|Michigan - We are seeking a BE/BC obstetrician/gynecologist to join an expanding practice. The group maintains offices in the medical office building attached to the medical center. This established group of three feels that the time is right to add an additional provider to maintain its growth momentum. The physicians currently deliver 220 to 250 babies annually and perform colposcopies, LEEPS and endometrial biopsies within the clinic. The group is supported by dedicated nurses and ultrasound technicians at the hospital.
The physician will work four days a week and share call 1:3.5 with the two full-time and one part-time physicians. Pediatricians will be available to attend c-sections. Complicated deliveries can be referred to neonatologists in Marquette, and perinatologists are available in Green Bay.
The medical center, a critical access facility that offers key ancillary services and advanced medical technologies, is the facility of choice for obstetrical care in the area. It has four birthing suites. It will institute electronic medical records (EMR) in 2008.
Diagnostic and therapeutic services include x-ray, mammography, ultrasound, laboratory, respiratory therapy, and nuclear medicine, plus general/ambulatory surgical units, a coronary care unit, and obstetrics with private birthing suites. The surgical center performs colonoscopies, hysterectomies, gall bladder, total knee and hip replacement, plus arthroscopies, carpel tunnel, cataract, endoscopies, hernias, tonsils and more. There are presently ninety active and consulting physicians are on staff.
The medical center has broken ground for a new 125,000-sq ft, 25-bed hospital and attached clinic. The OB/GYN’s office will be in the medical office building that is attached to the hospital.
The community is on the northern coast of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (UP,) about ten minutes from the pristine shores of Lake Superior, the largest fresh-water lake in the world. It is one of the communities that makes up this picturesque stretch of land, bordering Wisconsin to the southeast and Ontario, Canada, and Minnesota to the north It is connected to the rest of the state by the magnificent Mackinaw Bridge, the third longest suspension bridge in the world, and the longest in the western hemisphere.
This peninsula is home to a hearty culture that enjoys the robust lifestyle and the altruistic character of its citizenry. Winters are filled with outdoor activities, dog sled races, cross country ski races, downhill skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, winter carnivals, and more. Spring is when everyone puts away their winter equipment in favor of biking, hiking, fishing, and camping gear, kayaks, canoes, yachts, fishing boats, and such. These will be enjoyed throughout the summer months and into the fall.
