It has a service area of 25,000, including Ripon, Green Lake, Princeton, Markestan, Brandon, and Montello. The Neuroscience Center includes a six-bed neurological intensive care unit. The Center of Rehabilitation Services treats trauma, stroke, orthopedic, and neuromuscular conditions. It also has a dedicated pediatric program. A nearby children’s hospital has a fully staffed level III neonatal ICU.
Ripon is in the northeast part of Wisconsin. The community’s architectural, educational and political heritage makes it one of Wisconsin’s most significant cities. It was one of the first communities selected by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and the National Trust’s Main Street Program to participate in downtown renovation. Three times over the last decade, it has been a semifinalist in the Great American Main Street competition, which recognizes exceptional accomplishments in downtown revitalization programs.
Dozens of new businesses have been recruited to the area, decreasing vacancies from 26% to 3% and increasing assessed property values by over 74%. This has created a working, growing, aesthetically pleasing business center that works to reinforce and rekindle economic vitality. Much of the downtown area’s upper level space has been converted to magnificent loft apartments, with vaulted ceilings, hardwood maple floors, large skylights, brick and stone walls, and splendid vistas. College professors, young professionals, artisans, and college students have taken possession of those quarters once occupied by shop owners.
Green Lake, Wisconsin, just five minutes from Ripon, is an upscale area that attracts a great deal of wealth from Chicago. Multi-million dollar homes, world-class golf , and the beautiful 7,346-acre Green Lake, are just part of what attracts visitors to this lovely area. Midwest Living ranked it among the top 50 American towns to visit with populations of less than 20,000. Competing communities were ranked by attractions, vibe, scenery, walkability, shopping, dining, lodging, arts scene, outdoor activities, proximity to major cities, multi-day potential, and a wild card for special events.
