Requires current AZ RN license or other compact state RN license. One year of Critical Care / Cardiac Cath Lab experience is required. Must possess highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrate behaviors consistent with those identified as the hospital's service standards.
These positions serve as base unit staff for the Cardiac Cath Lab. Incumbents will use specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills based upon the principles of biological, physical and social sciences to facilitate patient's achievement of optimum health status. Provides leadership and coordination to the healthcare team and will maintain standards of professional skills.
The Cardiac Cath Lab is currently performing over 28,000 diagnostic procedures and over 6,300 interventional procedures annually. The Cath Lab performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization as well as electriophysiology and cardiac implantable defibrillators through the use of state-of-the-art GE Flat Plate digital x-ray equipment, 2.9” GE 2000 Innova rooms and 2 12” GE 3100 Innova rooms, 1 Phillips Integris room and 1 Toshiba ceiling mount room, with Mac-Lab recording system with maximum automation in every room. There is a holding area with a state-of-the-art Phillips Intellivue Patient Monitoring System.

6 rooms – 16 bay holding area
Cath Lab is open Monday-Saturday 6:30a-5p. Staff rotate on-call after hours during the week and on Sundays. Self scheduling is done by each individual staff member for working hours as well as for on-call hours. The lab is closed on holidays and weekends except for emergencies. Average call is around 3-4 days a month and weekend call is rotated.
The high acuity of the patients provides a wide range of diagnosis. An all-professional nursing staff places an emphasis on patient/family teaching and primary nursing care.
Unique features of the unit:
44 attending cardiologists from within Phoenix and the outlying region are on staff. In addition to diagnostic caths and PTCA’s, intra-coronary ultrasound directional coronary arthrectomy, coronary rotational ablation, stents, electrophysiology study, radio frequency ablation, internal cardiac defibrillators and pacemaker procedures are performed. Peripheral diagnostic and interventional procedures are performed as well.
