Requires current AZ RN license or other compact state RN license. One year of Med/Surg/Pulmonary experience is preferred, however, new graduates will be considered on an individual basis. Must possess highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrate behaviors consistent with those identified as the hospital's service standards.
These positions serve as base unit staff for the Medical/Pulmonary/Family Practice Unit. Incumbents will use specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills based upon the principles of biological, physical and social sciences to facilitate patient's achievement of optimum health status. Provides leadership and coordination to the healthcare team and will maintain standards of professional skills.
The medical units serve a varied general medicine patient population with a focus on pulmonary, family practice, and endocrine patients. Medical patients have a broad range of multi-system disease processes. The patient population includes adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, providing the nurse variety in their nursing practice. This multi-system, multi-focused area provides a new graduate with the skills to develop a well-rounded med/surg foundation. The experienced nurse will see many opportunities for patient teaching and involvement in the multidisciplinary setting.
Number of beds:
30 beds – 2 pods
12-hour shifts are available – 7a-7:30p and 7p-7:30a
A modified total patient care concept provides the nurse the opportunity for close interaction with his/her patients while at the same time having support personnel available on the unit. The RN coordinates and communicates patient care needs with other members of the patient care team. All staff members are considered valuable members of the team.
Unique features of the unit:
The intensity of patients on this unit offers an advantage to an individual nurse who needs to enhance his/her medical and surgical expertise with special emphasis on the specialty area of Pulmonary and Family Practice nursing. This unit is expanding in late fall 2004.
