Qualifications:

Requires current AZ RN license or other compact state RN license. One year of Rehab experience is preferred, however, new graduates will be considered on an individual basis. Must possess highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrate behaviors consistent with those identified as the hospital's service standards.



Job Description:


These positions serve as base unit staff for the Rehabilitation Unit. Incumbents will use specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills based upon the principles of biological, physical and social sciences to facilitate patient's achievement of optimum health status. Provides leadership and coordination to the healthcare team and will maintain standards of professional skills.



Unit description:


This unit is an acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. Typically the patients exhibit a variety of neurological and/or musculoskeletal disorders such as spinal cord injury, CVA, brain injury, amputation, multiple trauma, burns, multiple sclerosis and orthopedics. In addition to the neurologically impaired, patients who have been deconditioned due to long standing illness, i.e. kidney, liver or bone marrow transplants, may benefit from acute rehabilitation. The patients offer a variety of challenges for bothe the experienced nurse and the new graduate, i.e. tracheostomy care, CAPD and hemodialysis, pre- and post-operative surgery, feeding tubes, central lines, and diabetic care. Nursing functions as the facilitator for the holistic approach utilized by the multi-disciplinary health team in conjunction with the Wound Care Program in its efforts to restore the patient to his/her maximum level of function. Patient/Family education needs provides an opportunity for the professional to develop and utilize a multitude of teaching skills.

62 beds



Shifts available:
12-hour shifts are available – 7a-7:30p and 7p-7:30a



Nursing Concept:


There is an RN team leader designee on each shift. The RN team leader plans, implements, coordinates and evaluates care from admission through discharge in collaboration with the case manager and the interdisciplinary team for all patients. Our nursing team is comprised of RN’s, LPN’s, and PCA’s.

Rehabilitation nursing provides an atmosphere in which the nurse gains an attitude of accountability and responsibility for the patient’s care. There is the opportunity to work with a team that has common goals: restoration of patients to their maximum functional potential, maintenance of an optimal level of wellness, and return to a functional role within the family and community. There are also planned recreational activities including community reintegration, and pet therapy for patients. Rehabilitation nursing is one of the most rewarding areas in the profession and offers the professional nurse the opportunity to educate patients as well as their families. Rehab has a multi-disciplinary Shared Leadership committee, known as the Rehab PIT Team.
