Requires current AZ RN license or other compact state RN license. One year of Ortho/Urology experience is preferred, however, new graduates will be considered on an individual basis. Must possess highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrate behaviors consistent with those identified as the hospital's service standards.
These positions serve as base unit staff for the Orthopedic / Urology Unit. Incumbents will use specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills based upon the principles of biological, physical and social sciences to facilitate patient's achievement of optimum health status. Provides leadership and coordination to the healthcare team and will maintain standards of professional skills.
This unit is a surgical unit specializing in Orthopedics and Urology. Our patient profile focuses on joint replacement, i.e. total hips and knees which offers an excellent opportunity to give specialized nursing care to adult patients of all ages, and provides the nurse with a variety of learning and teaching experiences. These orthopedic conditions include joint replacements, sports injuries, and multiple traumas. Many of our patients have combined medical conditions. A Case Management and partnership approach is utilized in the delivery of patient care on this unit. This department offers many opportunities for the expansion of the nurse’s knowledge and expertise, both for the new graduate as well as the experienced nurse.
Number of beds:
There are 30 beds on 2 pods, 5 semi-private rooms and 5 private rooms on each pod.
Self scheduling provides staff members the ability to manage their own work schedule.
Our predominately-licensed staff allows each nurse to utilize all of his/her nursing skills as well as facilitating a more consistent approach to our patient care. Our nursing goal, with or without surgery, is to restore function, relieve pain, and restore our patient’s ability to perform as independently as possible when they return into their community environment. Customer satisfaction is our number one goal.
