Requires current AZ RN license or other compact state RN license. One year of Outpatient experience is preferred, however, new graduates will be considered on an individual basis. Must possess highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrate behaviors consistent with those identified as the hospital's service standards.
These positions serve as base unit staff for the Outpatient Treatment Center. Incumbents will use specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills based upon the principles of biological, physical and social sciences to facilitate patient's achievement of optimum health status. Provides leadership and coordination to the healthcare team and will maintain standards of professional skills.
The Outpatient Treatment Center was designed to provide an attractive healing environment for our adult outpatients and their families. Various populations utilize OTC for pre- and/or post-procedure care, which includes Cardiology, Endoscopy, Lithotripsy and Radiology. In addition, OTC sees a growing number of recurring patients for infusions, transfusions and chemotherapy, which may include Phlebotomy. In the near future, we will have the capability of 8 monitored telemetry beds.
This multi-system, multi-focused area provides a new graduate with the skills to develop a well-rounded med/surg foundation. The experienced nurse will see many opportunities for patient teaching and involvement in the multidisciplinary setting.
Number of beds:
OTC features 26 private treatment areas and a 15 bed infusion area.
OTC provides care from 6a to 9p, Monday through Friday, utilizing staggered shifts for the RN’s.
Excellent patient care both pre- and post-procedure is the primary goal of our staff. Working as part of a team is a fundamental requirement in OTC. Utilizing our Share Leadership model, patient care decisions are driven by the staff.
Unique features of the unit:
The OTC can accommodate an average of 50-70 patients in one day.
The OTC is a very fast paced environment, where flexibility is key. The staff is constantly working on a tight timeline in order to have patients ready for the testing departments at a designated time. Challenges include add-ons and increased acuity at times. OTC works very closely with all inter-disciplines, including social services, nutritional services, nurse specialists, pastoral services and home care.
