Requires current AZ RN license or other compact state RN license. Current OR experience is required. Must possess highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrate behaviors consistent with those identified as the hospital's service standards.
This position serves as base unit staff for Surgical Services. Incumbents will use specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills based upon the principles of biological, physical and social sciences to facilitate patient's achievement of optimum health status. Provides leadership and coordination to the healthcare team and will maintain standards of professional skills.
The OR Department is the busiest surgical service in the region and home to the most comprehensive staff of specialty and general surgeons.
Number of beds:
16 inpatient OR suites
RN’s: all 12 hour shifts of 7a-7p and 7p-7a, 36 hour work week
The total patient care concept is utilized to maintain continuity of care
Unique features of the unit:
Because of the large scope patient population, this unit not only provides opportunity to utilize all clinical skills, but opportunity to build new ones. Surgical procedures include: general, gyn, orthopedic, cardiovascular/open heart, neuro, trauma and transplant surgery. Nearly 750 open heart surgeries are performed annually in three dedicated cardiovascular operating rooms. Nearly 200 kidney, kidney/pancreas, and liver transplants are performed annually. This program serves patients from throughout Arizona and the Southwest.
