Our client is a major hospital serving a mid-sized town in the western region of the U.S. It is conveniently located just a couple hours drive from 2 major U.S cities. It is certified for Medicare and is JCAHO-accredited. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency service with full-time emergency physicians on duty. It holds an ALS Base Hospital Certificate issued by its home state, authorizing medical direction and support of pre-hospital care providers, such as fire department and ambulance personnel. The hospital offers a full complement of patient-centered, community hospital, and regional referral services in all of the major medical disciplines and is currently looking for a Speech Language Pathologist to join their team!

The Speech Language Pathologist administers, organizes and plans the activities of the department to ensure effective speech pathology evaluation and treatment for inpatients, outpatients and acute rehab patients who exhibit a speech, language, hearing or swallowing disorder. You should be able to effectively communicate diagnostic test results, diagnoses, and proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by your patients and their families. You must be able to approach problems objectively and be supportive. Because a patient's progress may be slow, patience, compassion, and good listening skills are necessary. Although the work is not physically demanding, it requires attention to detail and intense concentration. The emotional needs of clients and their families may be demanding. Beyond patient care and communications, you will maintain systematic records in accordance with professional, JCAHO, and CARF guidelines, and provide evaluation and set up of treatment programs for all patients. You will also be expected to orient and train new and continuing staff regarding scope and needs of the Speech Language Therapy Department and participate in continuing education programs to enhance your skills and knowledge.
To qualify, you will need a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from a college or university accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association; CCC's; and State License as a Speech Pathologist (or eligible to obtain license). Position open to both an experienced Speech Pathologist and CFY.
